To celebrate the inaugural installment of NYFF Encounters (a new annual commissioning program that invites one filmmaker with a film in the New York Film Festival to create an original short during the course of the festival), on Friday, October 2 at 7pm we will present a special screening of short film SOUTH OF TEHRAN (and the four-minute short it takes its inspiration from: PIER PAOLO PASOLINI — AGNÈS VARDA — NEW YORK — 1967), alongside an extended conversation with Mendonça Filho and producer Emilie Lesclaux about the making of the short and the encounters made possible by film festivals.
