The Odds Against U.S. stage play

The Odds Against U.S. stage play The Odds Against U.S. is an original choreopoem play that reflects the realities of ghetto children commonly known as statistics.

More information will be coming soon! I was inspired to write such a play because I felt it was of importance for people to understand the struggle of black America’s youth growing up in urban environments. This play tells my story as well as others. In my old neighborhood, you can ride through right now and see 80 percent or more of my old friends and classmates posted in the neighborhood doing a

bsolutely nothing productive for society or themselves. I was one of the few to escape the jungle that still confines my friends. At one point, I found myself frowning down on them because I didn’t understand why they choose to do nothing with their lives. As time has passed and I’ve become older and wiser, I now have a more logical view of their reality. The reality is that most of them are mentally shackled to this ghetto, to this street life. They actually don’t see anyplace else for themselves. Many of us have become urban statistics and only few of us have beaten these odds against us. The original play, The Odds Against U.S. is a story that needs to be seen and heard by ALL of America. It is important that educators, parents, legal workers, political leaders, mental Doctors, and any others dealing with youth of black America understand their realities or else they will continue to fail at reaching them and these young people will continue dying, increasing prison population, and becoming statistics.

Hope all is well. Just released my first book, The Odds Against U.S.:Urban Statistics. The book not only points out the obvious of urban youth such as they're often pregnant at 16, killing one another, dropping out of school, selling and doing drugs & more. This book explains WHY our black youth often have dead end futures. Order the book now at www.TheChrisjamesjourney.com for $12.99
The book release event takes place this Saturday at Pyramid Book Store in Little Rock, Arkansas from 4pm-6pm.
