"B**g has spoken frequently of his appreciation for [Kelly Reichardt's] work; he called the opening shot of her 2008 film, Wendy and Lucy, 'one of the most beautiful opening scenes in the history of the movies.'"

Director Kelly Reichardt will be at the Olympia Film Festival to present her latest feature, First Cow, on April 17.

The Oscar-winning "Parasite" filmmaker spoke with his hero Kelly Reichardt over videochat. The result was as delightful and nerdy as you might imagine.

"Quietly, obliquely and without much fuss, Kelly Reichardt has become one of best chroniclers of the American experience on film. For a quarter century, the 56-year-old filmmaker has traced the solitary struggles of working-class people fighting, and inevitably failing, to get their piece of the American Dream."

Director Kelly Reichardt will be at the 36th Olympia Film Festival on April 17 to present First Cow.

Indie stalwart Kelly Reichardt also discusses why casting animals is no different than casting humans and and why she’s "all about the small strokes" of life.

“Few American directors working within the realm of independent cinema in this century have garnered more acclaim than [Kelly] Reichardt, whose acutely observed depictions of marginalized characters journeying in search of a better life have consistently cast a spell on the country’s most influential critics, publications and audiences privy to her limitedly released works.”

A career spanning profile of an important and fascinating filmmaker. Kelly Reichardt will be at the Capitol Theater on April 17 to present her latest feature, FIRST COW.

b. 1964, Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA Kelly Reichardt is a most unlikely ambassador of current American independent cinema. Her films are not remotely violent or boundary pushing. She has never competed for a Palme d’Or or piqued the attention of Oscar voters. She does not write scintillating d...

"[Kelly] Reichardt has crafted a wondrous little story about two friends roaming the natural splendors of the Pacific Northwest"

Director Kelly Reichardt and Vanity Fair's Richard Lawson open our film festival on April 17th with First Cow.

Reichardt's tender story of 19th century friendship consolidates the themes of her previous movies to hypnotic effect.

We are thrilled to work with Three Dollar Bill Cinema to bring director Levan Akin’s AND THEN WE DANCED to the Olympia Film Festival. Interim Executive Director of Three Dollar Bill Cinema, Kathleen Mullen, elaborates on the programming choice: “And Then We Danced was my first choice to highlight and support at the Olympia Film Festival. The power and politics of gender restrictions in dance is explored through Merab’s passion for the traditional Georgian art form that he has danced since childhood. Swedish/ Georgian filmmaker Levan Akin’s gives voice to his character Merab as he is falling in love for the first time and discovering and accepting himself as both a dancer and a gay man.”
