I got a call a couple weeks ago from Mandy in Haysville of a swarm of bees in a tree. Today was the first day to inspect the new hive and there she is. Ain't she grand :-)

Dare I say, Flea's got nothing on these red hot chili peppers but you can grab these beauties among other home grown goodies at the Arb Market at Bartlett Arboretum for that pot of chili. (still sounds weird)

Gonna be pepper day Saturday morning at Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine, 9 to noon.
Bell peppers, jalapenos, scotch bonnets. But wait, there's more! Pablanos (think chilies rellenos). Sweet red hot anaheims (think hatch chilies that have been allowed to fully ripen). Fresno peppers, banana peppers, & serrano peppers, oh my!

This scary thing is the keeper of the cucumbers. It's actually a beneficial bug called a wheel bug.
Now if this thing could just keep the ducks from wiping out my lettuce.
