Save the date for Y2K KILLER BUGS on Sept. 11!!!

September is always millennial cult month for Cult-O-Rama, and this year we’re bringing you two movies that feature a different kind of Y2K bug: the mutant and aggressive insect/arachnid kind! The second movie is a secret, but if you were around for an intermission earlier this year, you may have heard us spill the beans.

Eight Legged Freaks (2002) –

JACOB'S LADDER starts Friday at Row House - Lawrenceville.

After returning home from the Vietnam War, veteran Jacob Singer struggles to maintain his sanity. Plagued by hallucinations and flashbacks, Singer rapidly falls apart as the world and people around him morph and twist into disturbing images. His girlfriend, Jezzie, and ex-wife, Sarah, try to help, but to little avail. Even Singer’s chiropractor friend, Louis, fails to reach him as he descends into madness.

The new(ish) Japanese thriller EXIT 8 starts Friday at Row House - Lawrenceville!

A man trapped in an endless sterile subway passageway sets out to find Exit 8. The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8. But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning. Will he ever reach his goal and escape this infinite corridor?

Thursday night! Our Polish Film series celebrating the work of Andrzej Wajda continues with his film Danton at 7 pm

The film: Danton and Robespierre were close friends and fought together in the French Revolution, but by 1793 Robespierre was France’s ruler, determined to wipe out opposition with a series of mass ex*****ons that became known as the Reign of Terror. Danton, well known as a spokesman of the people, had been living in relative solitude in the French countryside, but he returned to Paris to challenge Robespierre’s violent rule and call for the people to demand their rights. Robespierre, however, could not accept such a challenge, even from a friend and colleague, and he blocked out a plan for the capture and ex*****on of Danton and his allies.
