The sound system is fixed.... and movies are back on this week.

Have you seen this movie? One of our 20 favorite films, playing this Sunday, Oct. 25, at 4 & 7 p.m. at ISU's Bengal Theater. Only $1 for the public to get in or free for ISU students. Add a popcorn/drink combo for under $5 and it's a great day at the movies. Kevin Kline stars as a father whose mid-life crises force him to reckon with his family failings and set out on a course for redemption. Hayden Christensen, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Mary Steenburgen co-star in this winner of the National Board of Review award. The Seattle Times writes, "'Life as a House' reaches easily past all your intellectual and emotional barriers, back into that spot behind your heart, where the levers that release tears are stored," while the Los Angeles Times calls it, "A heart-warming, involving experience." All are welcome to attend.

These people helped make it happen over the past 20 years. Not pictured or remembered at the time of creating were Jim Mariani and the other Bob and probably a few others including my own kids Shannon and Sean, along with all the Bengal Theater workers over the years, but if these folks hadn’t stepped up, it never would have lasted. So I just want to say, I see you, remember you and thank you for your part in creating and maintaining the Pocatello Film Society. Come see our 20th Anniversary shows with “Peaceful Warrior” tonight at 4 & 7 p.m. Sun, Oct. 11 at ISU’s Bengal Theater.

It's a $1 admission day with "Peaceful Warrior" showing this Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4 and 7 p.m. at ISU's Bengal Theater. Nick Nolte and Amy Smart star with Scott Mechlowicz in this tale based on the best selling book "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" about a young college athlete whose career threatening injury has him questioning life, but then he meets Socrates, a mysterious garage mechanic, who helps to guide him toward renewed purpose. The Los Angeles Daily News writes, "Warrior's soul lessons go much deeper, to universally vital places," while Hollywood Report Card adds, "It's a beautiful film -- see it... directed with great grace and care." This film continues our "20 Favorite Films" series, celebrating our 20th anniversary. For trailer and more information, go to www.isucinema.com/peaceful.

Just a reminder that "The Death of Robin Hood" plays this Sunday, Oct. 4, at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater. Hugh Jackman stars as the aging outlaw, haunted by his violent past and the reality that the heroic folklore surrounding him is a lie, who must try to right his ship and make amends by helping those he can while the time is short. The San Francisco Chronicle writes, "It is, at its core, a redemption story, simple in persuasive ways yet richly complicated by difficult personalities and atrocious revelations," while New York Magazine adds, "We come to understand the beauty of myth. We need the legends and their lies, because the world is otherwise too unbearable." Admission is $3 for the public, $2 for ISU staff/faculty and free for ISU students with a Bengal ID.
