Salem's Movies in the Park is a free summer outdoor film series shown in Salem's Riverfront Park along the Willamette River. (Note that dusk varies throughout the summer, so check your almanacs for sunset times and plan accordingly.) Some people show up as early as 7pm to enjoy the park and have a picnic before the show. Others show up as the movie starts. We always start with some old cartoons, s
horts or other retro clips to entertain until it is dark enough for the featured movie. Thank you for coming out and enjoying Salem's Movies in the Park! Salem's Movies in the Park was started in 2008 by a collaboration with the City of Salem, Hazel Patton, Jeff Hart, an Anonymous Donor, The Shutterbug, and Allied Video Productions. A large 22 feet by 13.5 foot inflatable screen was purchased and donated to the City of Salem. All movies are leased and authorized for screening through Swank Motion Pictures. The movies have continued with generous sponsors and supporters, and through generous donations from the viewers.
