(945)

Don’t just watch live music, films, and performing arts, experience them in this historic, 206-seat theater. A variety of music artists, stage performances, comedy shows, children’s entertainment, and more are offered year ‘round. The Tybee Post Theater is an integral part of the Tybee Island community, serving the local population and tourists seeking a unique and historic venue for events, shows

, and music. The Post Theater was constructed in 1930 by the U.S. Army as a movie house for the soldiers stationed at the Fort and was the highlight of recreational activities for the soldiers and their families and friends on the island. Built in red brick with white wooden cornices in a modest Greek revival style, the Fort Screven Theater, significantly, was one of the first theaters in the state equipped to show “talkies.” Through the years, the Theater attracted such famous patrons as base commander Gen. George C. Marshall and his wife, future President Dwight Eisenhower and Savannah’s famed composer Johnny Mercer. Officers and their families had reserved seats on the three back rows. Now you can relive a part of Tybee Island’s rich history when you join us for our shows and events. The theater was restored and reopened in 2015, and has high quality sound and light systems, comfortable seating, and concession stands serving snacks, soft beverages, and beer & wine. We can’t wait to welcome you to Tybee Island’s premiere entertainment venue!
