Its time for our next Cinema Supper Club, and this time the theme is “Reproduction”.

First at 7:30 we have the all-time classic example of horrific Hollywood mother-daughter relationships in “Mommie Dearest.” Faye Dunaway stars as the larger-than-life Joan Crawford in a film that is either one of the worst movies ever made, or work of genius and the Grand Dame of campy cult classics. “No wire hangers.... ever!!”

Then at 10:00 we are showing the 2003 German comedy “Goodbye Lenin”. This charming film about the lengths a family will go to keep their frail mother from learning the Berlin wall has fallen while she was in a coma stars one of today’s top German actors Daniel Brühl. Winner of 15 European awards and nominated for the Golden Globes and the Oscars, this is a film that proves Germans can be funny... sometimes.

We will be feasting on a special selection of German delicacies including authentic wursts, rosenkohl, delicious potato salad, pretzel brötchen and more. Dinner is $15. Admission is $10. Door opens at 6:30 for cocktails and dining. To prepay & reserve your spot send your Paypal “gift” to [email protected]

This is our last Cinema Supper Club before we go on hiatus for the month of June. But you are all invited to our Annual Burningman Party June 9th here at Switch. Its party not to be missed. Save the date! Details to follow.

Up next week: BATTLE ROYAL

Hunger Games-Schmunger Games! Come see the live action manga film that precedes this new teen sensation and inspired Quentin Tarantino to blast blood at 60 miles per hour in "Kill Bill"! If you like: Japanese teenagers killing each other off in order to survive, sword on crowbar action, schoolgirl uniforms, conniving, desperation, alternate histories, action, underdogs, suspense, evil governments imposing the obscene upon its people and or a well crafted story…. THEN YOU'RE GONNA LOVE BATTLE ROYAL. It's the kind of movie that makes you cooler for having seen it.

Some of the films we will be showing.

Coming up this week at CSC: SUCTION!

This Thurs its going to be 2 modern takes on the Vampire film starting with 1994's "Nadja".

This film is just as weird and fascinating as you would expect from its producer David Lynch (who cameos as a morgue employee). Elina Löwensohn stars as Dracula's daughter seeking revenge for her father's murder at the hands of Van Helsing (Peter Fonda). Darkly gothic and experimentally lo-fi -- this black and white film was partly shot on Pixelvision cameras -- Nadja is equal parts art house, horror, and dark comedy.

Followed by the original Norwegian version of "Let the Right One In" a hauntingly suspenseful neo-classic that will leave you wondering....

Doors open at 6:30 for dining and cocktails. First movie at 7:30. As always,
you can reserve a spot by sending a Paypal "gift" to [email protected].
