The film documents the preparation of La Forza del Destino, Verdi’s masterpiece, which opened La Scala’s 2024 season. From the initial rehearsals to the premier, award-winning director Anissa Bonnefont chronicles the world class cast of singers (Soprano Anna Netrebko, Barytone Ludovic Tézier, Tenor Brian Jagde), the Maestro, Riccardo Chailly and the stage director, Leo Muscato, along with the nine hundred artisans, dancers, musicians and technicians who ceaselessly toil until the world’s most iconic season opening.

Every 7th of December marks the beginning of Milan’s legendary opera season at La Scala. Since 1951, the entire city stops and moves to the rhythm of the event known as, “La Prima”. The spectacle is filmed by RaiTV and broadcast live on Rai 1, while opera enthusiasts from around the world flock to Milan to attend the performance in person. In 2024, “La Forza del Destino”, Verdi's masterpiece, inaugurated the season to rave reviews.

With La Scala: The Force of Destiny, Anissa Bonnefont, accompanied by cinematographer Martina Cocco, invites the audience into the creative hive that is La Scala during the final months of preparation, capturing the tensions, the stress, and the passion that span from the first meeting of the opera team all the way to the pull of the curtain as it raises above the stage. In a spirited countdown, driven by conductor Riccardo Chailly and stage director Leo Muscato, the film follows every step of this extraordinary artistic creation. The contemporary music of Jack Bartman accompanies the masterful compositions of Verdi while the film's script is brought to life by chief editor Guerric Catala.

Directed by Anissa Bonnefont, Italian and English with English subtitles, 2025, 90 minutes.

Horseshoe is an Irish comedy-drama where four estranged siblings reunite in their rural family home to settle their late father’s will, only to face resurfacing grudges, secrets, and his unexpected lingering presence.

Blending sharp humor with heartfelt moments and a strong sense of place, it’s a well-acted and tonally balanced crowd-pleaser. Critics praise its wit, warmth, and scenic backdrops, though note some pacing and overplotting issues.

At the heart of a German university grows a majestic ginkgo tree, its lifespan measured in centuries. As the years pass, the distinguished plant bears witness to the private lives of those who seek shade under its boundless branches, forming a nexus that connects three generations of students and teachers across time and space.

In 2020, a visiting neuroscientist conducts a series of experiments into the possibilities of botanical consciousness. In 1972, a young student is profoundly changed by studying the behavior of a simple geranium. And in 1908, the university’s first female student’s photographic inquiries reveal sacred patterns of the universe hidden within the humblest of plants. Over time, each is transformed by the quiet, enduring, and mysterious power of nature.
From Ildikó Enyedi, the director of Academy Award-nominated On Body and Soul, comes Silent Friend, an epic, awe-inspiring exploration of the natural world. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Tony Leung, Léa Seydoux and Venice Prize-winning newcomer Luna Wedler, Enyedi crafts a thoughtful meditation on the essential question of what it means to be human.

In the 1920s, O’Keeffe became famous for her paintings of flowers, bones, and the beauty of nature. She posed n**e for shocking photographs by her lover, Alfred Stieglitz.
