It's time to begin our special 50th Anniversary screening of Irwin Allen's THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, which was released in theaters on December 12, 1972. This seminal action/adventure/drama went on to become the highest-grossing film of 1973, earning over $125 million worldwide. It became a benchmark cinematic moment - ushering in the disaster movie genre, and was nominated for eight Academy Awards, making it one of the most nominated films of all time. Ultimately, THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE would go on to win two Oscars, a Golden Globe Award, a British Academy Film Award, and a Motion Picture Sound Editors Award.

The film stars Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons, Carol Lynley, Shelley Winters, Roddy McDowall, Stella Stevens, Jack Albertson, Pamela Sue Martin, Arthur O'Connell, Eric Shea, and Leslie Nielsen.

Tonight, the 10th Box Cinema (echo) is proud to present a special 50th Anniversary screening of THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE. Gene Hackman headlines an all-star cast in this Irwin Allen classic, released in theaters on December 12, 1972. Doors open at 7, and our feature will begin at 8pm.

We’re 15 minutes away from tonight‘s special screening of 1988’s DIE HARD. Whether you believe this classic action flick is a Christmas movie or not, its charm and appeal, notably around the holidays, continues to grow among fans.

The film, directed by John McTiernan, stars Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Alexander Godunov, and Bonnie Bedelia, with Reginald VelJohnson, William Atherton, Paul Gleason, and Hart Bochner in supporting roles.

DIE HARD grossed approximately $140 million, becoming the year's tenth-highest-grossing film and the highest-grossing action film. Receiving four Academy Award nominations, it elevated Willis to leading-man status and made Rickman a celebrity.

We're 40 minutes away from tonight's 40th Anniversary screening of BLADE RUNNER. Part 3 of our 4-night film festival, entitled "40: The Summer of 1982". BLADE RUNNER was released on June 25, 1982, and even though it received mixed reviews at the time; ultimate became the science fiction classic it is today.

Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, and Daryl Hannah star. The movie was Director Ridley Scott's first film after 1979's ALIEN. Composer Vangelis' beautiful and cutting edge electronic score is immersive, while also becoming a classic onto itself.

BLADE RUNNER begins at 7pm.

It's time for tonight's screening of Steven Spielberg's E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL - Part 2 of our special 4-night film festival entitled "40: The Summer of 1982". E.T. was released just one week after STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN on June 11, 1982 and literally took that summer by storm; topping and breaking box office records.

The film stars Dee Wallace, Henry Thomas, Peter Coyote, Robert MacNaughton, and Drew Barrymore, with a magnificent and beloved music score by John Williams. Widely acclaimed by critics and regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, E.T. received nine nominations at the 55th Academy Awards, winning Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Sound Editing.

While we're excited about our grand opening this evening, we're also saddened by the just announced passing of Kirstie Alley. Our special 40th anniversary screening of STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN begins in a few moments as part of our special 4-night film festival entitled "40: The Summer of 1982".

This film would be Kirstie's film debut, and solidified her presence in the Star Trek Universe as one of the best and most endearing new characters of the big screen adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her crew. And so we dedicate tonight's screening to Kirstie Alley.

This classic Star Trek movie, considered to be the absolute best in the franchise for its story, characters, action, and drama, stars William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Walter Koenig, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Bibi Besch, Merritt Butrick, Paul Winfield, Kirstie Alley, Ricardo Montalbán as Khan.
