One of cinema’s most iconic images was almost lost to real-life New Yorkers. When Marilyn Monroe stood over a subway grate in The Seven Year Itch, the scene attracted such a huge crowd that director Billy Wilder eventually had to reshoot it on a studio set — where they could actually hear Marilyn’s dialogue.
And as Marilyn is our Programming Manager’s absolute favourite, this one was always going to make the programme. ❤️
