After the film, we were lucky enough to have director Jason Raftopoulos join our amazing vice president for a really great Q&A about the making of the film, the characters, and the realities behind the story.

First up, we are thrilled to welcome back next Thursday the 7th LEGENDARY Greek Melbournian Jason Raftopoulos for a special screening of his acclaimed film West of Sunshine.

“West of Sunshine (2017) is an Australian drama directed by Jason Raftopoulos, following Jim, a struggling courier driver and gambling addict in Melbourne’s western suburbs. He has one day to pay off a $15,000 debt to a violent loan shark, while unexpectedly looking after his young son, Alex”.

💛 Our good friend and member Peter Kalos is doing incredible work with Athenie’s Angels, and we wanted to share his message with our community.

For the past three years, Peter and his team have been supporting teens and young people through mental health initiatives, including free counselling and the Mental Health Resilience Course. Recently, Monash University partnered with them to help refine the course; what an amazing step forward!

Peter writes:
“To know that what we’re doing is helping young people - that’s everything. We’ve learned so much through our own grief, and we want to share those lessons so others don’t feel alone.”

Their work wouldn’t be possible without volunteers, donors, and supporters like you. You can make a difference just by sharing their upcoming event - the knowledge is free, the impact is real, and it could truly change a life.
