The only way to find out is to book tickets to our special anniversary screening of Paul Feig’s iconic 2010s comedy BRIDESMAIDS (15), showing this Friday in screen one.

Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper and Wendi McLendon-Covey re-wrote the buddy comedy, and injected it full of pathos and gross-out-gags. This sharp takedown of maid of honour politics, culture and tribalism is not to be missed!

On Wednesday we hosted x for Film On Film.

The event was a showcase of seven different genre film shorts shot on film (8mm, 16mm, and 35mm), a feat fittingly celebrated in our historic auditorium.

We’re proud to play our part in breaking down barriers for filmmakers. As one of the UK’s last truly independent cinemas we hope to be a leading light for the filmmaking community, and being a space where emerging talents across the industry can come together, network, and showcase their work.

Funny, gross-out, and full of pathos, Paul Feig’s BRIDESMAIDS deserves to be seen on the big screen to celebrate its larger than life characters and the performances of Wiig, McCarthy, Rudolph, and Byrne.

WHAT’S ON 15 - 21 MAY: THE CHRISTOPHERS (15), ORPHAN (15) + THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 (12A)

Steven Soderbergh’s latest feature focus on the fictional eccentric painter Juliana Sklar whose life defining work, a series called “the Christophers”, remains unfinished. Something his unscrupulous children (and heirs) are unhappy with. They hire Lori Butler, a young yet talented artist as a companion for Julian (who secret mission is to finish the Christophers through forgery).

The latest addition to the Star Wars universe arrives at the Phoenix on Friday 22nd May. Written and directed by Jon Favreau, it stars Pedro Pascal, Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver.

Following the fall of the Galactic Empire, in a period of instability where Imperial warlords threatening a fragile state of affairs, the New Republic enlists Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu to rescue Rotta the Hutt in exchange for information on a target.

COMING SOON: ORPHAN (15)

Director of Son of Saul, László Nemes returns with his immensely powerful new film opening as a main feature this Friday 15th May.

Post-World War II Hungary. Young Jewish boy Andor (Bojtorjan Barabas) is rescued from an orphanage by his Holocaust-survivor mother Klara (Andrea Waskovics). Budapest, 1957. The city is reeling from the aftershocks of the failed Hungarian Uprising. Klara has told Andor, now 12, that his beloved father Hirsch died in a Concentration Camp during the war. However, Andor’s world is upended by the arrival of Berend (Gregory Gadebois), a brutish non-Jewish butcher from the Hungarian countryside claiming to be his real father. Andor’s search for the truth will unravel everything he thinks he knows about his family.

Orphan premiered at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the prestigious Golden Lion award.
