A fresh lineup is arriving, with new adventures, big scares and a few films worth getting excited about.

🏝️ Forgotten Island Two friends are transported to a mysterious island where memories begin to fade. The first of our three school holiday movies, from the team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

🐾 Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie The pups are back on the big screen, this time facing a prehistoric adventure. Perfect school holiday viewing for the little ones.

🧟 Resident Evil The games come to life in a new horror adventure from Zack Cregger, director of Weapons. Expect scares, chaos and a little natural humour along the way.

🐕 Heart of the Beast Previewing Wednesday night. Brad Pitt stars as a special forces officer stranded in the wilderness, fighting to survive alongside his dog, Odin. Filmed in Queenstown, standing in for Alaska.

Plus, there’s plenty more playing across our three screens.

Every year, Empire is proud to be part of the South Coast Arts Trail, celebrating the incredible artists, makers and creative people who make our corner of Wellington such a special place.

This year, we’re screening The Art of Making, a short film celebrating some of the wonderful Wellington artists involved in the arts trail and giving us a glimpse into the people, passion and creativity behind the work.

Because art isn’t just about what we see. It’s about the people who make it, the stories behind it, and the places that inspire it.

Join us at Empire for this special short film as part of the South Coast Arts Trail.
