ATTLEBORO -- Efforts to reopen the Union Theatre are moving along, the newest progression being the formation of a nonprofit dedicated to managing and operating the theater once it opens.

We are honored to be among the grant recipients from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ “Community One Stop For Growth” program!!

“The Community One Stop for Growth, overseen by the Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED), makes it easier for cities, towns and organizations to access state funding for projects that create housing, strengthen downtowns, prepare sites for development, build construction and support local economic growth. We're on the list! Thank you to the Community One Stop For Growth program which just awarded the Union Theatre Revival Project $250,000 through its TDI Equity program. This is happening!! We're turning on the lights, Attleboro!

Governor Healey announced the largest round of Community One Stop for Growth awards in program history: $330 million for 402 economic development and housing projects in 207 communities across Massachusetts.

The awards will support more than 27,000 new homes, more than 13,000 permanent jobs and an estimated $24.6 billion in private investment.

More than $171.6 million is being awarded through HLC programs, helping communities build the infrastructure, plan for growth and make local investments needed to support new housing.

As Secretary Matias said, “This is the roads, water and site work that has to happen before a single home can be built.”

Over the past two years we have seen a movement building to re-open the Union Theatre, nicknamed along the way as Attleboro's "Sleeping Beauty." That day will soon become a reality, but the team needs YOUR support to get there. Working together with community, the Union Theatre team is looking forward to opening the doors once again.
