Directors Lance Oppenheim (Primetime) and Nathan Fielder (The Rehearsal) deliver one of the year’s most anticipated and fascinating documentaries. Thirty-four days before reporting to prison after her conviction for fraud involving Theranos’s failed blood-testing technology, Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew led by Fielder to document her every move. What follows is an intimate, surreal, and mind-bending portrait that earned rave reviews following its surprise premiere at Telluride.

Our cult classic After Dark series continues on November 4th with the 2006 comedy IDIOCRACY. Tickets are available now at countytheater.org/specials

What if the future got a whole lot dumber? Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Mike Judge’s cult comedy IDIOCRACY has only grown more relevant with age. The film follows an average guy who volunteers for a military hibernation experiment and wakes up 500 years in the future to discover he’s become the smartest person on Earth. Packed with absurd satire, quotable jokes, and surprisingly prophetic laughs, this outrageous comedy stars Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, and Terry Crews in a scene-stealing performance as President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho.

Several years after unleashing one of the most ferocious horror films ever put to screen, director Sam Raimi expanded upon his breakout indie horror flick with this genre-smashing sequel. Trapped in a secluded cabin in the woods, our hero Ash—played by cult icon Bruce Campbell—must survive a night of demonic attacks that begins after a recitation from the Book of the Dead. EVIL DEAD II is often called “the greatest horror film ever made.”

By day, he searches the deserted city for supplies and signs of life; by night, he fends off the infected creatures that haunt the darkness. As loneliness and despair begin to consume him, the unsettling truth about the catastrophe that reshaped humanity is uncovered. A chilling and influential blend of post-apocalyptic science fiction and horror, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH remains a cornerstone of the genre.
